FILM OXFORD USER GROUPS COMBINED EVENT
Thursday 18th February 7.30pm @ Film Oxford, 54 Catherine Street, Oxford OX4 3AH.
Film Oxford is having a re-vamp of its user groups and as a launch we will be having a combined event at Film Oxford on Thursday 18th February at 7.30pm with all the groups present.
The things that are changing:
- Digital Creatives Oxford and Digital Film Editors Oxford will combine to become one group and meet bi-monthly.
- Open Screen will change its regular meeting to the second Thursday in the month.
- Film Oxford Production Group will re-launch with regular bi-monthly meetings.
Come along on the 18th where the groups will present their plans, screen new work and let you know about upcoming events, it will also be a great opportunity for user group members to meet each other. Drinks and refreshments will be provided.
Film Oxford User Groups
Digital Creatives Oxford is an official Adobe User Group hosting free meetings featuring speakers, hot tips, networking and informal pub meetings to link up people with an interest in cutting edge creative practices. Loosely based around the Adobe Creative Cloud offering, we look at a range of techniques that these and other tools afford the digital artist. We look forward to seeing you at future events and suggest you sign up to our Meetup page for future event announcements.
Film Oxford Production Group is for anyone who wants to be making a film. As well as screening, networking and production we plan to invite speakers and have presentations and demos. You can come in at any point in the process from the idea through to the final editing. We will be setting up a Meetup page in the near future.
Outline activities:
- Bring a clip from something you’ve filmed – in any state of production
- Bring a clip of an interesting film for discussion.
- Pitch an idea for a film you want to make and get feedback.
- Ask for specific help in making your film: camera, sound, editing, local advice etc.
Open Screen is a friendly networking group that meets to watch and discuss short films. It runs from 7.30pm-9.30pm at Film Oxford, Catherine St. Come along and meet other like-minded people and expand your love of filmmaking and get feedback on work in progress. We are open to all filmmakers of any level, wanting to watch or show and discuss your work. It can be drama, doc, finished or unfinished, sign up to our Meetup page for future event announcements.
Screenwriters @ Film Oxford meets weekly to critique outlines, treatments and scripts. This is an enormously useful resource: somewhere to get feedback and comments, a place to try out ideas, a source of support and encouragement. There is an emphasis on getting the outline/treatment developed to a high standard before work begins on the script itself. The review process is good-natured and supportive, and the outcome really is a better script. This is an advanced writers group and you need to apply to become a member.
