A New Chapter in 2026 – Big changes & Big celebrations!
We’re moving to a new home – and marking 40 years of community filmmaking!
In early 2026, Film Oxford will relocate to East Oxford Community Centre – and yes, it’s our 40th anniversary! To celebrate this milestone, we’re thrilled to announce that we’ve secured a grant from the National Heritage Lottery Fund to preserve and share Oxford’s Moving Image Heritage.

Introducing ‘Lights, Camera, Oxford’
This exciting conservation and engagement project will preserve and open up access to our remarkable analogue film archive and create three participatory documentaries on the themes of:
- Inside the Archive – uncovering 40 years of community filmmaking at Film Oxford.
- The Lost Art of Analogue– documenting the craft of early filmmaking techniques.
- Oxford’s Cinema Story – exploring the city’s rich cinema history.

JOIN IN: Alongside these programmes we are running shorter creative workshops in Slow Photography, Experimental Filmmaking, and Digital Arts – helping the community learn new skills while rediscovering old ones.
This intergenerational programme will culminate in an exhibition at the Museum of Oxford and a celebratory screening events at the Ultimate Picture Palace (UPP).
More info coming in January. To register interest in workshops, email nicola@filmoxford.org
Priority will be given to ages 16–25 not in full-time education/employment and the over 50’s not in full-time employment.
