3rd Oxford International Documentary Film Festival 2005
There are 100 films in the festival this year, including a major retrospective of the internationally acclaimed French director of Être et Avoir, Nicolas Philibert, who will be at the post screening discussions of his films. Our own national treasures, Michael Grigsby and Kim Longinotto will also be at the screenings of their films for discussion with the audience. Kim Longinotto’s film, Sisters in Law, won the Prix Art et Essai at Cannes 2005. Superb films (with their directors) from the New Accession States are a special strand in the festival this year. Over forty directors from around the world will be at Oxdox to talk with you about their films. We have introduced for the first time a Schools Film Festival, hosted by Wheatley Park School, on Friday 21 October. There will be a live link with a large state media specialist school in Copenhagen, for the presentation of the Oxdox award for the best film submitted by the school students in Oxford and in Copenhagen. Another first this year, is the introduction of video tech booths at the main festival venue in the Old Fire Station, to view other films made by the directors in the festival. Booking for the booths can be made at the OFS during the festival. Oxdox will tour to the Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square after the Oxford Festival. Just one last thing …you will need to see at least 12 films a day not to miss out!
