I write to announce an exciting new initiative from OFVM. From Thursday 14th April we are starting a monthly meeting where anyone can bring their work to show and discuss. The films can be DOCUMENTARY, FICTION, EXPERIMENTAL, or all three.
The work can include: trailers, excerpts from a rough cut, key scenes and even rushes. Whether you want to screen or just be one of the viewers at the event, it’s a real opportunity to gain support, get crucial feedback, meet your peers and help forge a creative and supportive Oxford film-making community.
We welcome film-makers of all types – from people who do it as a hobby to people who do it for a living.
The idea is you can show up to 10 minutes of your work (but no more) and then we all discuss it for 10 minutes (no more).
We plan to start with 6 pieces – so that will last two hours in all including discussion.
We’ll pick the pieces on a first come basis – so if you miss out this time, you can be first next time.
All we ask is the following:
1. You must be able to change the work in some way – so our discussion will be meaningful
2. You should think about what you want the audience to help you with and so shape the post screening discussion.
We are not asking the audience to pronounce on whether something is good or bad, but rather to help the filmmaker see a way forward with their material.
Please bring your work along on DVD and let us know first whether you are bringing something to show.
ALL WELCOME WE NEED AN AUDIENCE NOT JUST FILMMAKERS
Most important: there will be beverages provided. Donations will be most welcome.
Hope to see you at Catherine Street on Thursday 14th April at 7pm
