Description

3 Day Video Production course is a hands-on beginners’ workshop. It covers the whole video production process, from the initial idea to a finished film. This daytime workshop is designed for people wishing to take their first step into video production. You will be given a brief to produce a short factual film, and you will then work with your fellow learners to develop the idea, shoot it on our digital equipment, and edit the film with Adobe Premiere editing software (for adults 18+).

What you will do on the 3 Day Video Production Course.

In this workshop, you will gain an overview of the production process by working on a live, hands-on, intensive project over three days. You will shoot a short factual film. Your tutor will support you throughout, and all equipment will be provided. (15 hours of teaching).

Your Tutor:

Zoe Broughton is an award-winning filmmaker with thirty years of experience covering direct action and filming for charity groups. She has won the British Environmental Media Award ‘Scoop of the Year’, the International Brigitte Bardot Genesis Award in Hollywood and the EarthVision Environmental Film and Video Competition in Santa Cruz.

She has worked on films that have been used to allow young carers to voice their needs, educate people on HIV/AIDS, and to build community cohesion in a disadvantaged area. She has also worked in mainstream media as a camerawoman for the BBC and for Reuters Business News.

All equipment is provided for this course.

3 Day video Production Course - Film Oxford

3 Day Video Production Course Outline:

DAY 1:
On the first day, you will be introduced to video production and will have a first look at the video cameras. You will learn about different types of camera shots and movements, and will discuss ideas on form, style, and content for your shoot. You will also receive hands-on camera training, including sound recording and practice with microphones.

DAY 2:
On the second day, you will shoot your production (usually on location). Each group member will rotate production roles, taking turns directing, operating the camera, setting up the lights (if indoors), recording sound, etc. Afterwards, you will watch back what you shot and take notes.

DAY 3:
On the third day, you will use Adobe Premiere software to edit your short film. Please bring a USB stick so you can take a copy. Please note that no one can “learn” professional editing software in one day, but the supported edit day will give you enough to complete your film and insights on how you can further develop your editing skills.
