SHADOWLIGHT ARTISTS EXHIBITION & FUNDRAISER
Luminous exhibition opens with a virtual gallery on 12th November on the Shadowlight Artists website. It will also run in the real world at Modern Art Oxford and Arts at the Old Fire Station galleries in Oxford from Wednesday 2nd December 2020 to Christmas Eve (dates subject to lockdown rule changes)
The Shadowlight Artists, supported by Film Oxford, have continued creating artwork throughout the lockdown. The group is made up of seven artists with learning disabilities living in Oxfordshire.
The Arts Council-funded Luminous project began pre-Covid in 2019 – however since March the project has been a lifeline, supporting the wellbeing of the artists who were already at increased risk of social isolation. Film Oxford quickly adapted to offer continued support to the artists throughout the pandemic, delivering art materials to their homes, providing a friendly ear on the telephone and continuing work on Luminous through remote and socially-distanced production and workshop activities.
SEE THE WORK : Luminous exhibition opens Modern Art Oxford and Arts at the Old Fire Station on Friday 20th November 2020. Online virtual gallery hosted on the Shadowlight Artists website.
The exhibition explores themes including bullying, changing industrial landscapes and historical portraiture. Work draws on a huge range of emotions from joy to sorrow, humour to exasperation. All of the work represents honest responses to the day-to-day world from this unique group of artists.
