Reel One Network Event. Children’s TV – Future, Past and Present. Four Media professionals will giveinsight into working in Children’s TV.

Annie Gibbs works for Ragdoll and is at the moment in the middle of filming a series called "What makes me happy" films made with children from around the world in conjunction with Save the Children. She has been involved in all their programming from Rosie and Jim through Teletubbies and now What makes me happy. She is brilliant with children and a complete genius at getting what she needs from totally untrained children working in front of the camera.
Arabella Warner first met Annie when she went to work making the tummy films for Teletubbies where she was Arabella’s producer and she has continued to give Arabella all kinds of invaluable advise. Arabella started at Radio Oxford as Wobbledy Woo the wicked witch from Wallingford a charcter on the Timmy on the Tranny show, then worked as a presenter and producer on the first early morning breakfast childrens show on TVAM. Arabella now mostly writes for children’s TV series, including the animation Bottletop Bill and Miss Spider.
Simon Hook directs M.I.High is “Spooks for kids". It is produced for the BBC by Kudos (Production company behind Spooks, Hustle, Life on Mars). In an inner-London comprehensive three teenagers are secretly spies and each week battle to save the nation from a different villain. They are lead by their spymaster (Danny John-Jules) who provides them with gadgets and who maintains an alter ego as the ineffectual school caretaker. By involving stunts sequences, elaborate props, and digital effect it tries to bring grown-up production values to Children’s TV. It has proved a ratings success for CBBC. Simon Hook directed five episodes in each of the first two series and will be showing some representative sequences and answering questions about the show. He will shortly be kicking off the third series.
Dawn Parsonage has worked with Simon Hook. She directs Cbeebies trailers. She will talk about the process of making trailers for Children TV. Including talking about animations, young child direction and idea creation.
