Edi Smockum is an acclaimed filmmaker and writer, whose media career spans across all production genre and programming.  Edi is Head of Short Courses for the professional arm of the National Film and Television School (NFTS).  After a career in Canada, the US and England, she has been involved in training and consultancy for the television industry for a number of years and works with Channel 4 on initiatives for new entrants to the industry.  Edi will tell you what the media is looking for these days from individuals like you and give you an insiders survival guide to staying in employment. National Film and Television School comes to Oxford!!

In June OFVM Film Oxford will be running courses in conjunction with NFTS including how to develop and pitch documentary ideas to commissioners.  Edi will talk more about the content of these courses which will boost your success for future developments.  She will also tell you about the National Film and Television School, the training on offer and the scholarships and grants available to you.
