Creative Lights Forest Festival 2024 A festival of Arts, Culture and Community held at Rose Hill Community Centre as part of Oxford City Council’s city-wide Christmas Lights Festival. Young people from Rose Hill made this film.
In Autumn 2024, Film Oxford, Rose Hill Junior Youth Club. (RHJYC), and Rose Hill & Iffley Low Carbon (RHILC) worked together throughout October and November to deliver over 60 exciting creative workshops to young people and families in Rose Hill. These workshops included lantern making, filmmaking, video projection workshops, animation, green screen, editing, and even building giant glowing elephants! These workshops led to a three-day festival, 15th-17th November 2024, on the theme of ‘Trees and Reforestation”.
The festival included:
Friday – Youth Disco event with video projections created by the young people over seven weeks. Food was provided for the young people.
Saturday – Family activities, including lantern making, filmmaking and other creative activities, culminating in the lantern parade around Rose Hill. Young people made the lanterns over many weeks of workshops, including creating two giant Elephant lanterns. Free community meal provided.
Sunday – Lots of activities, including creating tree-themed costumes (there were also many of these leading up to the period), poster making, creating crowns, singing, cake making and more. Free Community meal provided.
