Creative Lights Festival 2025: Brilliant Bugs took place in Rose Hill, Oxford, on 15th November 2025, celebrating the rich tapestry of British wildlife with a special focus on insects — the tiny heroes of our ecosystems. This magical event featured drop-in creative activities, a free community meal, and a vibrant parade that shines a light on the creatures that pollinate, feed, and sustain life around Rose Hill. In the run-up to the festival, we ran workshops in small and giant lantern-making, as well as other creative activities, over half-term and at Rose Hill Junior Youth club sessions. There were also lantern-making sessions at Chilworth Specialist School. The project was funded by the National Lottery Communities Fund. Creative Lights Festival 2025, which is run by Film Oxford, Rose Hill Junior Youth Club and Rose Hill and Iffley Low Carbon and held at Rose Hill Community Centre. The festival is part of the city-wide Oxford Christmas Lights Festival 2025, running for three days, 14th – 16th November 2025, organised by Oxford City Council.
