Introduction to Adobe Lightroom Classic
Adobe Lightroom is a family of image organisation and image manipulation tools for Windows and macOS. It allows viewing, organising and editing large numbers of digital images by non-destructive methods. Often used by wedding and events photographers, it provides an efficient way of processing large numbers of images without the need to use Photoshop. Lightroom contains its own RAW converter negating the need for additional RAW pre-processing software. The Library features within the program provide excellent organisation, tagging and publishing tools.
This course explores the different modules within Lightroom, demonstrating their functionality and giving practical exercises for learners to gain knowledge and experience.
Note: While this course specifically covers Lightroom Classic (which is desk/laptop orientated), it is also suitable as an introduction for people who have and wish to use Lightroom CC (which has additional mobile device and cloud functionality).
Introduction to Adobe Lightroom – Target Audience:
This course is aimed at photographers, publishers and photo librarians who wish to gain the most out of their photos without learning the complexities of Photoshop. It will also serve as an excellent foundation for Photoshop for those interested in advancing to more complex photo manipulation but have no experience in this subject.
Introduction to Adobe Lightroom – Prerequisites:
To join this course, you must already be comfortable using a computer, keyboard and mouse and have experience of using general desktop applications. If you also understand photo manipulation concepts like exposure, colour balance, and contrast, that would be an advantage, but it is not essential. We advise that people take Adobe Lightroom before Adobe Photoshop.
Covid-19: Safety is our number one priority. This course will follow these social distancing advice (until government advice changes): Each person will sit at an individual desk. Shared equipment sanitised between users. Learners are expected to bring their own face covering to wear (or be provided with a disposable one). Staff will wear face coverings. The training is held in a large, well-ventilated room. Hand sanitiser, wipes and gloves will be available. Full refund if we must cancel the course due to any restrictions.
The course is written and delivered by Guy Henstock, an Oxford-based professional photographer. Guy has decades of experience as a photographer and photographic post-production retoucher, having started in a darkroom with film and embraced the digital world some 25 years ago. Guy’s photographs are used by businesses in their printed adverts, brochures, publications and websites. His work is also regularly published in the local press. Guy is also the course tutor for Film Oxford’s Introduction to Photoshop course.

The course is delivered in Film Oxford’s where there are a number of PCs and Mac computers. The course has a maximum of seven learners, ensuring that each receives a good level of personal guidance and attention.
