Congratulations to everyone involved on the Poppadom Pictures Nepalese fundraising event on March 3rd. Overall £750 was raised to support the reconstruction of the Kali Devi secondary school in Naubise and a cheque was presented to the Oxfordshire Nepalese Community on Sunday evening. The fundraising event took place at the Everest Restaurant on Howard Street and started with a screening of Runaway Railway (Children’s Film Foundation) followed by curry and screening of award winning film Gyalmu’s House – by Asmita Shrish and Gavin Carver. This short documentary follows a woman of great courage, humour and dignity as she rebuilds her life high in the mountains after an earthquake of terrible power devastated Nepal’s Langtang Valley. Trailer The film was followed by Q+A with the director and then a screening of Rise of the Artisans (Return to Nepal) showing how Nepal’s artisans are now rebuilding sites across the country after the earthquake.
