5) Since course what had people gone on to do?
- The courses I have done at film Oxford has given me the skills and confidence to go and make my own films, I have completed a 18min documentary, am shooting a second full length doc, and have nearly completed an hour long drama.I have shared some of the skills I have learnt with others, and recommended film Oxford to many people.
- I wrote act 1 on the course and I completed a first draft of the feature film that I began on the course and I’m working on an outline for another feature film.
- Some paid and upaid work for local charity.
- The VJ course helped me put together some live visuals for my band, and also helped me experiment further with effects on visuals for my regular video work.
- Unpaid (of course) a short video at my work to promote patient experience at our hospital.
- Video editing and DVD production for amateur dramatics performances. Editing of video games footage for YouTube channel.
- I have been the main cameraman and am now editing a 20-minute drama, with 6 actors and 6 or 7 crew using hired equipment from Film Oxford. I am also filming a documentary using my own DSLR.
- It has improved my general filming skills, which shows on my YouTube channel. Also keeping in contact with the team to develop other projects. Hoping to get some ideas off the ground soon. Possible short and possible micro documentary.
- Voluntary short film to raise money for a charity, made with another person who attended the course with me who has very good camera and editing skills
- I’ve used the skills as a small part of my job as a Communications Officer, to make short videos to promote my organisation – it’s been really helpful.
- Finished one script which I had developed over the eight-week course. I have also directed another script I wrote – still in the process of being edited. A third script has been filmed by my son in China.
- Given confidence to learn a lot more about digital editing.
6) Anything else they want to say?
- Excellent tutors Simon Hook, Graham Reed and Dan Harbour – cannot fault their ability to retain a creative teaching style whilst informing on sometimes highly technical detail. Thoroughly recommend to anyone.
- I do think there should be more funding available for such centres that are providing this learning. Film Oxford is the most integrated centre of learning that genuinely offers access to such a wide range of special needs and disabilities, age and ability, successfully with out any of the usual fuss.
- It is a great atmosphere to learn in.
- I’ve done a number of courses at Film Oxford and always enjoyed the and learnt something useful. I really appreciate having this facility locally.
- I have participated in 3 courses at Film Oxford. I have written and made 2 short films. Film Oxford has enabled me to gain valuable skills and experience.
- I not only learn’t many things on the course I enjoyed it, it boosted my confidence.
- I think Film Oxford is a fantastic asset to the city, as a filmmaker I find it invaluable to have such a great organisation on my doorstep, and only wish I’d known about it sooner!
- I have thoroughly enjoyed training at Film Oxford and have found most of the courses very well organised and the people leading the courses have been friendly and very supportive.
- Keep up the good work. Looking forward to the screenwriting and documentary film making courses.
- Generally the tutors and courses are excellent. The documentary 5 week filmmaking course was fabulous by S Woodward and the weekend photoshop course a few years ago was excellent too.
- Taking the course was a brilliant experience – a lot of fun and gave me a really good grounding in the basic skills and knowledge needed to make film and video.
- I got a lot out of the two courses.
