10 x 10 show and discuss your work

Dated: May 6, 2011

10 x 10 Show and discuss your work. Thursday 12th May 7pm at OFVM Film Oxford

We had a really GREAT and INSPIRING first session of 10 x 10 last month where people brought their work to show and discuss. Work included DOCUMENTARY, FICTION, EXPERIMENTAL.

One member wrote afterwards: “I just wanted to tell you how much drive and energy the screening gave us, and to thank you again for organizing it”.

We’d like to make it a regular event so we would like to invite you to come to OFVM for more of the same on Thursday 12th May at 7pm.

The work can include:  trailers, excerpts from a rough cut, key scenes and even rushes. Whether you want to screen or just be one of the viewers at the event, it’s a real opportunity to gain support, get crucial feedback, meet your peers and help forge a creative and supportive Oxford film-making community.

We welcome film-makers of all types – from people who do it as a hobby to people who do it for a living.

The idea is you can show up to 10 minutes of your work (but no more) and then we all discuss it for 10 minutes (no more).

We’ll pick the pieces on a first come basis – so if you miss out this time, you can be first next time.

All we ask is the following:

1.       You must be able to change the work in some way – so our discussion will be meaningful

2.       You should think about what you want the audience to help you with and so shape the post screening discussion.

We are not asking the audience to pronounce on whether something is good or bad, but rather to help the filmmaker see a way forward with their material.

Please bring your work along on DVD and let us know first whether you are bringing something to show.

Most important: there will be beverages provided. Donations will be most welcome.

Hope to see you at Catherine Street on Thursday 12th May  at 7pm

 Rob Lemkin

OFVM Trustee
