Shadowlight Artists: Journeys Exhibition at Old Fire Station Oxford.
Producer - Film Oxford

In November 2023, the Shadowlight Artists will return to Old Fire Station with Journeys, a project featuring new work by learning-disabled and autistic artists Wendy Belcher, Richard Hunt, Danny Smith & Tom Breach.

The exhibition brings their unique creative journeys to a broader audience with work that explores diverse themes, including creating an alternative artistic persona, living with grief and loss, the quest for artistic excellence, and the day-to-day challenges of life as an autistic adult.

Danny Smith plays with different aspects of his personality through his drag alter ego Trixie Pixie Lox in a new dance-for-camera piece, whilst Wendy Belcher explores the deep relationship and intensely felt the loss of her dog through a digital collage video. Making his next step in his ongoing quest for artistic excellence, Richard Hunt’s new works on paper and canvas see him continue to develop his style, incorporating elements of decoupage alongside painting and drawing. Tom Breach leverages his talent for creating darkly humorous cartoons to produce a video documenting his struggles to achieve greater independence as an autistic adult.
